The history of hot tubs and
spas can be traced back before recorded history when early
man made use of the earth's natural hot springs. Hot springs
fed streams and pools, which were used for warmth and natural
treatment by early man. Native Americans, were well aware
of the healing properties of natural hot springs.
Hot Tub therapy, also known
as hydrotherapy or hydrothermal therapy, is almost synonymous
with hot tubs and spas. From early man to modern day presidents,
such as Franklin D. Roosevelt, the therapeutic value of hot
tubs has been known, though not fully understood. In fact,
whole cities (e.g., Bath, England, Hot Springs, Arkansas)
have been built around providing comfort using the earth's
natural hot springs.
The
term "Hot Tub" originally referred to the wooden,
barrel-shaped tubs, which became popular in the late 1960s.
Early hot tubs were fairly simple devices, which basically
held hot water and had enough room for one or two bathers
at a time. When the industry began building tubs of molded
fibreglass or with thermoplastic shells, they were given the
tag "spa" to differentiate them from their wooden
cousins.
The wooden hot tub has evolved
over time to include such amenities as seating, jets, filters,
and most of the features associated with a spa. In fact, the
phrase "hot tubing" can be taken to mean soaking
in either type of vessel.

Who
wants a hot tub spa in their house? I see all hands being
raised. That's true UK living isn't it?
Watching television, drinking wine, a cigar, in a nice hot tub
in your home. Hot tub spas are becoming more and more common.
Today's technology allows anyone to setup a hot tub spa in their
living room, master bedroom or in the backyard. It is truly a
luxury that we can all afford.
Today, manufacturer's are allowing you to order them, they ship
it to you and you can self assemble them. It's so easy, even my
13 year old did it. These new generation of portable hot tubs
use technology similar to an aquarium. They are all self-sustaining
and self-sufficient. They don't require any external hook ups.
Just add water, and spa chemical and you are ready to enjoy the
streaming massaging jets of your new hot tub
The health
benefits with owning a hot tub spa is becoming more
numerous. Hydrotherapy
is often cited. Known for thousands of years for their health benefits,
it has become very popular all over Europe. These health spas are
usually built around very nice natural surroundings. They often
have panoramic views of the mountains, oceans or the bodies of water.
Perhaps is the fresh surroundings that is curing.
Hot
tub safety starts with common sense. First, whenever
there is water accidents can happen, such as slipping or electrocution.
Hot tubs are meant for relaxation, not jumping, splashing or underwater
play. Always teach kids and remind adults to slow down and walk
carefully around a hot tub. Never use electrical equipment near
or in a hot tub.
Next, watch your young children
carefully. Drowning can happen in a matter of seconds in hot tubs.
Be sure to keep your hair, necklaces, laces, ties and any other
items away from the powerful suction of a drain.
Hot tub
safety also includes consideration of heat. Prolonged
use in a hot tub at temperatures above 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40
degrees Celsius) can be a safety concern as well. Most public places
that allow hot tubs recommend only 15 minutes of exposure and many
do not allow children.
Most health professionals do not
recommend that pregnant women or person's with diabetes, high blood
pressure or heart disease use a hot tub; however, you should consult
with your physician to see if there are alternatives or modifications
available. One such modification, would be lowering the temperature
of the water in the hot tub.
Remember
to purchase and keep a high quality, durable hot tub
cover over your hot tub. This will help prevent leaves, dirt and
debris from entering your hot tub. It will also, help keep animals,
pets and children out. If you need a hot tub cover, click

tub cover, hot
tub lifters are available.
Hot tub
therapy works by first relieving the body's natural
pressure from gravity, then by stimulating the nerves and circulatory
system. By further applying movement and air bubbles to the hot
water, the nerve impulses work to enhance the body's immune system,
increase circulation and digestion and even lessen sensitivities
Furthermore, hot tub therapy helps
relieve pain from arthritis, rheumatism, painful joints, varicose
veins and other musculature and back disorders
Make your hot tub or spa safer,
cleaner and more attractive with a high quality, durable hot tub
cover.
Spa covers are not only a vital part of the look of your hot tub,
they are also a necessary safety item. Covers help keep pets, animals
and little kids out of your hot tub. Covers also help maintain the
life of your equipment by keeping out dust, debris, leaves and other
unwanted items. Not only that, covers reduce operating expenses
by keeping the warmth in and the cold out.
Unfortunately, covers don't last forever and need to be replaced
about every three to five years. Make sure you find a manufacturer
who produces high-quality covers. You will thank yourself that you
did.
